Navigation and Routing
Reaching Your Destination Fast and Safely
According to your demands, we adjust our on-board route planning systems, which can also be complemented by a portal-based routing. Manufacturers of commercial vehicles such as DAF are already successfully using our navigation and routing software for their latest LGV models. The software supports both drivers and schedulers carrying out their everyday tasks. It also takes into consideration LGV-specific requirements like restricted access to certain roads, bridge weight limits as well as height and width of tunnels, underpasses or bridges.
On-Board Route Planning
Route planning on board the vehicle takes place via a comfortable entry of the destination. These can either be
- addresses entered manually
- saved contacts or
- POIs (points of interest)
The map display is based on map material from NAVTEQ; you can choose between 2D and 3D views. All contacts and POIs necessary for the on-board route planning can be listed in a web portal in advance and then be sent to the vehicles.
Navigation
Likewise, it is possible to the preset the parameters used for calculating the route already in the portal before sending them to the on-board unit
- use of motorways yes/no
- use of ferries allowed yes/no
- toll roads allowed yes/no
- fastest/shortest route
- using TMC yes/no
The parameters enable you to exactly determine for each vehicle how the routes are planned and selected, depending on the requirements.
Further LGV-specific factors are taken into consideration for the navigation
- legal restrictions as for instance
- roads prohibited to LGVs (including those with temporal restrictions)
- roads or junctions where LGVs may not turn left/right
- restrictions concerning hazardous goods
- physical restrictions
- restrictions due to height, width or length of the vehicle
- weight limits
In addition, route planning can include not only warnings about conditions and the course of certain roads, but also POIs specifically interesting for long-distance lorry drivers.
Route Planning in the Portal
Your scheduling can transmit finished route plans including details for destinations and waypoints to all vehicles. Your advantage is that every single predefined route in the portal corresponds exactly to your ideas. You can
- save
- reuse or
- send the route plans to several vehicles at the same time
Simultaneous to the on-board unit, planning the routes in the portal is done by simply entering an address or by selecting one of the saved contacts or POIs. However, it is also possible to visually determine destinations by using a map.
