LAGUS - Assistance in Handling Emergency Situations

LAGUS

How visor Assists You in Handling Emergency Situations

Our geographic information system LAGUS (LAGenUnterstützungsSystem, approx. "situation support system") supports a fast and conscientious coordination of your emergency units in the event of disaster. In case of emergency, quickly answering questions such as

  • Where is the scene?
  • Where are the emergency units?
  • What are the next steps?

is decisive for a successful operation of police and fire brigade forces, the THW (German Federal Agency for Technical Relief) and emergency medical services.

Selection of Situation Templates

Template "Defining Areas of Operation"

Steps to beTaken in Case of Defusing

Possible actions can be selected from a number of predefined templates. LAGUS already comprises more than 30 templates which can also be adapted and complemented, e.g.

  • drawing objects into the map
  • defining areas of operation
  • calling up schedules
  • opening external checklists

Assistance with Important Decisions

Important places and areas can be predefined in the map and indicated with tooltips, for instance

  • hydrants
  • prohibited areas
  • sites for the storage of hazardous substances

Experience and insights gathered from real disasters, accidents, exercises and simulations are compiled as "situation templates" within the system. They are stored and managed in a system-internal database

Using official geodata with the necessary spatial references, the cartographic software visor enables an easy and unambiguous presentation of these templates on desktop computers, mobile laptops or on paper.

Symbols for Hazardous Substances and Tactical Signs

  • hazard symbols warn about particular risks
  • so-called "tactical signs" are symbols used by authorities and organisa-tions concerned with security issues and help to identify units in the field

Recording of Actions Taken

All steps that have to be taken are listed in the predefined order; the time at which an action is carried out is also recorded. Completing an operation is only possible after all actions have been executed.

Every change made on the map is saved and can be reproduced as a slideshow after the completion of an operation.

Administration of User Rights and Multi-User System

The administration of user privileges permits assigning special areas of responsibility once you are logged in. Data management takes place in a central database. As we have developed a multi-user system, each client can immediately see any changes made on the map.

Finally, using the GIS software visor enables you to use your maps in other systems, too.
