Modules for visor Extension
Buffering and Intersecting, Database Module, GPS Module
A Module for Buffering and Intersecting
The optional module for visor is guided by an assistant. The user is led to the result in three easy steps. The module is intuitively operated and permits all relevant steps in order to manipulate objects.
Features
The module is a visor add-on with the following functions
- buffering of objects
- intersecting of objects
- addition or subtraction of objects
- reshaping polylines into splines
Buffering
Classic practical examples for buffering are the drawing of a 50 meter wide protective strip along a motorway route (polyline) or the determination of catchment areas of schools by putting a radius of 10 km around all schools.
In the first step, the user selects which function he intends to use – in this case, the "buffering" function. The second step is to choose the objects which are to be buffered. It is possible to take either only the selected objects or all objects on a certain layer (e.g. on the corresponding layer for "schools", which contains icons for each school). In the third and final step, additional options can be con-igured: what is the size of the buffer? Angular or round ends? On which layer will the results be displayed?
Intersection
The common surface of two objects is calculated.
Addition
The resulting object will be drawn as an outline around all initial objects.
Subtraction
The surface of one object is subtracted from the surface of a second object.
Splines
Originally, splines were "rulers" for drawing 3rd degree curves. Nowadays, splines refer to a mathematically calculated smoothing of polylines and polygons.

Scope of Delivery
The module includes an extensive online help and is available on CD-ROM or as a download.
