Being Well-Informed at Any Time

Different categories of messages help you managing your fleet, monitoring transports of hazardous goods, localising ships or tracing other mobile objects. The transmission of the reports takes place by GSM (GPRS, SMS) or, if there is no sufficient coverage of the GSM network, by satellite (ORBCOMM, Inmarsat, Iridium).

Message categories we developed for our telematics portal TIPSweb, its client-specific modifications and the OEM portals include

  • free-text messages (bi-directional)
  • standard messages (predefined text messages)
  • status reports of the on-board unit
  • configuration commands for units
  • alarm messages and their forwarding

On the one hand, TIPSweb supports the telematics hardware components distributed by our sister company OHB Teledata, on the other hand, we also develop interfaces for other devices according to your demands.

Keeping in Touch With Your Drivers

Depending on the hardware used in the vehicle, you can send text messages of varying length to your drivers and receive messages in the portal. Optionally, you can obtain an automatic note of receipt for messages sent to the vehicle.

Fast Information by Standard Messages

You can provide your driver with pre-written messages or text blocks. This group of standard messages allows him to transmit reports to the back office without much effort. You are able edit and administer the standard messages with TIPSweb and send them as a set to the vehicles.

Receiving Information About the Status of Your On-Board Units

Depending on the transmitting unit, the reports can include information on

  • driving behaviour
  • speed
  • temperature profile
  • battery voltage of the transmitting unit
  • fuel consumption

More information on status-relevant data is available in the section Vehicle Data.

Configuring Your Units – Everywhere and at Any Time

According to the hardware which is used on board the vehicle or other mobile objects, the units can also be configured “over the air“. This could be, as has been said above, the transmission of a set of standard messages, but this method also allows the changing of

  • the interval between position reports
  • spatial and temporal conditions for the sending of status data
  • map, navigation and language settings on the on-board unit
  • the content of address books and POI lists (point of interest) on the on-board unit

It is to your advantage that you have access to the units at any time, although the vehicle or the mobile unit does not have to be physically on site for any changes in the settings.

Being Early Informed About Important Events

If you are dealing with transports of hazardous goods or other special transports, an early recognition of safety-relevant aspects has the highest priority. Reports which are for example generated by

  • variation in pressure
  • exceeding or falling below critical temperature limits
  • leaving or keeping to a predefined area (geofencing)

can be individually defined and configured. A great plus for you is that you will be informed about alarms via SMS or email even without having direct access to the portal.
